Our Google Location History Data Parser is a free tool, created for the betterment of the Digital Forensic Incident Response Community.
Support:
Current testing proves the support of Google Location History Data obtained through both Google Takeout and Google Semantic History Warrant Returns. From either a single .zip file input (or folder containing multiple .zip files) this tool will search for the pertinent files, query out data, and generate results grouped by data type.
Data Types:
• Location Data from the Records.JSON File (the most accurate data)
• Settings Data from the Settings.JSON File (identifies the device(s) used)
• Detailed Activity Segment Data
• Simplified Activity Segment Data
• Place Visits
• Parking Events
• Road Segments
• Waypoints
• Simplified Raw Paths
Output:
Both CSV and KML files are generated to process further through other software or map visually. Additionally, a Data Copy folder is generated which contains all pertinent JSON files (Records.JSON, Settings.JSON, and other semantic location JSON files).
Data Verification:
A Google Semantic Location History Data Processing Data .txt file is also created and included within the selected output location. This file contains information about the tool, timestamps from processing, and MD5 hash verification of all pertinent files.
Common Errors:
Navigate to an input file that is not a .zip file or an input folder that is not a folder? The tool will alert you that the selection is not supported prior to data processing.
Attempt to process before selecting an output location? The tool will alert of that as well.
